2026 Mystery Alongs - Meet the designers

Lis Smith Knit Along Designer:

We are excited to announce our Designer for the 2026 Mystery Knit Along!

Lis Smith (@oldsaltstudio) was first taught to knit by her grandmother when she was young but over the past decade her passion for knitting has grown from a skill into a vocation.
A love of textiles and hand crafts beyond knitting inspires and informs her process. This includes sewing as well as growing and working with natural dyes from her home garden.
While holding her coastal New England roots at heart, Lis now happily calls the Pacific Northwest her home, with a posse of mischievous cats by her side.

Danielle Wallace Crochet Along Designer:

We are also thrilled to announce our Designer for the 2026 Mystery Crochet Along!

Danielle Wallace (@dwallacecrochet) is a crocheter of 20-plus years. Her first foray into crochet was when her children were small. At the time, crochet was often seen as stiff and retro. Danielle envisions it to be more. As she started designing, she quickly realized this was a great opportunity to merge two of her loves: fashion and wool. Danielle came from the sheep world, and wool is her first passion. Growing up in Central Oregon, she raised sheep, and as an adult, started spinning her homegrown fleece. Going on shearing trips, judging wool shows, organizing angora wool, skein, and garment competitions, and running a flock of Corriedale sheep has given her a deep understanding of wool and yarn structure. This understanding allows her to create unique functional crochet with drape, life, and movement. Her interest in fashion has allowed her to merge cutting-edge ideas into truly updated crochet that appeals to today’s world. As the designer behind D Wallace Designs, she creates patterns that take her unique understanding of wool, flair for color, and combine them into wearable crochet for today. This can be seen in the patterns she designed for The Slow Yarn Crawl, Purly Shell Fiber Arts, and other shops. Danielle loves to see her ideas come out of her head and onto the hooks of crochet artists around the world. She is excited to take the Rose City Yarn Crawl MCAL to new heights with her exciting new design.
